special "Naomi is bored in Rockwall" edition [21 Feb 2006|06:18pm]
[ mood | <- so hungee ]

Just got back from snowboarding in Angelfire, NM. Really fun trip. It was good to have our gang together again. The racist jokes and fart humor get better every year, guys (and gal, for the first time). Here are the pictures that I got. When you guys send me yours, I'll post them here as well. I'll also update the status of my shoulder injuries after I see the orthopedic specialist on Friday. Yeeeessssssssss. Here are the pictures, I'll put descriptions on them for the heck of it.

Ma and I arrive at Fuddrucker's to "tricked out nachos"
Ma finishing off his shake
Me on the mountain after my lesson and first hard fall
Left to right - Cindy, Jon Ma, James, Eric, me
Jon Ma on waiting at the lifts for Ellicott
View at bottom of the mountain looking down
View at bottom looking up
At the "white table" - James, Ellicott, me, and hiding her Asian face, Cindy
Asian table - Jon Ma, Eric, Tim
At cabin - Ma, Tim, Ellicot
More at cabin - Ellicott, James
Clockwise from top - Tim, Ma, Cindy, James
At cabin - Cindy, Eric, Ellicott
Ellicott chowing down
Poker - James takes Ellicott out on the river
More poker
Eric and Tim contemplating world domination... or their hand
Ellicott taking pictures cause he's been taken out
Cindy, me, and Ma playing poker
Same except I look retarded
My gimp shoulder
Eric cleaning up
Ellicott's poker face
James's poker face
On the flop, I go all in with the ace/2 hoping for a straight
Ellicott and James call me
I get my straight on the river beating all odds
More gloating/celebrating
Tim and James
Random strip club in the middle of a shopping center in downtown Albuquerque
Video from the bottom of the mountain just looking around
Ma scraping the board as Ellicott and I sing along
Ellicott taking his time down the bunny slope
Look around the cabin with Ellicott stuffing his face
Video in the middle of the night... no light, but plenty of audio provided by Ellicott
Weird metal fixtures in old town Albuquerque - there's no light shining on those things... and Eric IS jumping around like a jackass

That's all. I had fun, and my shoulders still hurt. Hooray. Enjoy the pictures, and send me some if you have more. I hope this cured some of your boredom, Naomi.

long time no update [04 Feb 2006|01:34pm]
[ mood | awake.. woke up today, right? ]

omghi2u.

I had my first interview in awhile on Thursday. It was at The Four Seasons in Austin. It turns out that they have no full time positions available that I want, but I'm at least on their radar now. The interview went pretty well by my impressions. The guy who interviewed me seemed to like me, and we had some good conversation. There weren't any awkward pauses, so that's always good. He did, however, tell me to pursue my "go to culinary school" goal. I'm not sure how good that is when your interviewer tells you to do something different with your life. They need to understand... I needs some moneys, amirite? After that, Tim, Beth and I went to Trudy's for dinner. That place is great. Too bad we got the only crappy server to ever work at Trudy's that night. Oh well. The food was still awesome, even though Beth stole my mixed quesadilla (livejournal spell-checker doesn't recognize this word) plate. She clearly had chicken and beef and stuck me with the pure beef plate. Wtf. Soooooo....... anything else happen recently worth noting? Not really. I met Heather's friend's babies the other day, too. They were really cute. I mean, they're like small dog cute. Speaking of small dog cute: here's Petie (it's only root beer, chill). See what I did with the file name? See what I did there? Man, I'm clever. Also, who wouldn't hire THIS? I'll be moving to Austin in March sometime. Look out job market, here I come... again.

no update in awhile ftw. [11 Jan 2006|11:10pm]
[ mood | i'm satisfied. ]

Hey, I haven't updated this in awhile. I went to the Rose Bowl and saw some awesome people. I'll upload pictures of them when I get a chance (or when Sarah sends them to me, geez). Also, here's a link to all the pictures that ARE uploaded: https://webspace.utexas.edu/casserly/pictures/rosebowl/ That will get you a lot of picture fun. Also, here's some new Petie pictures cause people tend to be fans of those. I experimented with the black and white and sepia options on my camera. Yeah, it's pretty fancy. Btw -- thanks Mom and Dad for the most amazing game experience ever. Yes, those pictures are shot from the 30 yard line on the Texas side about 6 rows up. Great game. And another special shout out goes to Vince Young for giving us a great year and screwing us next.

Petie near the pond @ the park Again (except really bright sepia tone) Petie looking out at the massive pond (massive to him, at least) More black and white And a movie!

Oh yeah, and my new desktop picture

That's all. 24 party this weekend, wooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrdddddd.

merry fishmas [25 Dec 2005|08:58pm]
[ mood | tired ]

I'm going to the Rose Bowl with my brother. Yeeeeeeesssssssssssss. My mom and dad hooked me up. See what I did there? It's like when the Longhorns say "Hook em," and I applied that to a cleverly written sentence. Anyways, watch out L.A. My triumphant return is January 3rd staying til January 6th. I also got a brand new home theater system. I'm pretty stoked about the Rose Bowl. Yeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhh, it's gonna be sweet. So, I hope everyone else's Christmas went well. Let me know what you got/did. Time for picture/movie updates:

Petie being held like a baby Petie playing around outside (13mb)
Petie accidentally getting nailed while playing Petie versus the couch
and here's one more for Petie fans (8.8mb)

That's all. Long day with the family. Tons of good food and many fun minutes of washing a half-ton of dishes. We have a big family... and nobody re-uses their freaking cups or plates. I did, however, walk away from the party with a copy of Cinderella Man. I heard it's amazing, and nobody went to see it in theaters. I'll be the judge of that sometime this week. Merry Christmas.

I'M GOIN' TO THE ROSE BOWL!!!!!!!!11111111

hey general public [11 Dec 2005|10:26pm]
[ mood | <- full, no "bloated" emoticon ]

So, how's everybody doing? It's been awhile. I figure I should update this thing. No, not alot has happened recently, but I'm sure everyone is wondering how I (read: Petie) am doing. I (Petie) am doing fine.

Today was our annual Casserly Christmas Party. It was pretty awesome. I'd like to say that I took a buttload of pictures, but I didn't. Tons of great food, even more great people, and an epic football game battle that ended with the Casserly team losing... but only because we were out-numbered 7 players to 6. Weak. Too many men on the field the entire game, but we declined it every down because we were nice. Uhhhhhhh.... what else happened. Not much. It was just a fun get-together. I need a job. Then I could complain in my LiveJournal like any other good emo kid.

Here's some pictures!!!!!!!!!!111111

Tim and Petie Tim and Petie again Tim and Petie again and again
and again (a movie this time)

Sorry the video is so dark Petie acting like a lump on the couch, his forté
More of Petie fighting with inanimate objects and for everybody still battling finals

Hope everyone is enjoying December. If not, try harder. You need mo' disciprine.

thanksgiving '05 wrap-up [27 Nov 2005|09:06pm]
[ mood | <- irate... not this ]

As I sit here with a free moment from my new puppy, Petie, he is sleeping on the couch. Crazy dog. Thanks everyone for coming out to our feast. Tim and I cooked a ton of food, and it all turned out really well... except for the broccoli/rice/cheese casserole. SORRY, BETH. I wish we would have taken pictures of all of the food, but we didn't. The menu consisted of turkey burgers, mashed potatoes, broccoli/rice/cheese casserole, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, stuffing, crescent rolls, a fruit salad provided by Eric, and sweet potatoes with a marshmallow topping. Forgive me if I forgot anything, but it was all awesome. Beth made some cupcakes which I didn't get the chance to try, and Mike made a Snickers pie which I got to try the last sliver of. Again, awesome. Oh yeah, and we went bowling, which is quite possibly the most fun I've had in a very long time. Seriously, I've never been so jazzed in Katy, TX. Look at me saying "jazzed," I'm still in a good mood from those games. By the way, if you were on my team that night, you won your game. That being said, I won in all 4 games I participated in (as did Ryan). Yeah, we rule. Here's a link to all of the pictures from Beth's camera. She took a lot of bowling ones, there's some good Petie pics, and... I guess that's about it. Oh, you want more multimedia?

the hunt you've got a friend a race i fall asleep like that too a close-up a wake-up call

here's a link to Beth's pictures

Happy Thanksgiving :D

petie's home [20 Nov 2005|09:08pm]
[ mood | <- hahaha bouncy ]

So, I brought Petie home from the breeder today. My sister came along for the ride. He whines a lot, I probably won't get any sleep for awhile, and he has already peed on the carpet 3 times, but I still kind of like him. Here's all the pictures. For all of the pics where you see Petie on top of my sister in the car, he climbed up there himself about 900 times. That's how he rode home for more than half of the 2.5 hour drive. Oh yeah, pictures + videos:

quickie update [13 Nov 2005|03:16pm]
I come inside from my jog this morning... my first jog on actual pavement in quite awhile:

Me: 7 1/2 minute mile, not bad for the first jog in awhile.
My dad: You know, humans have broken the 4-minute barrier for the mile run.
Me: ...
My dad: Just giving you something to strive for.

I failed to ask how fast his mile run was this morning.

In other news, Tim and I made a pumpkin pie today. Here's the recipe. And here's a picture of the final product.

There was a significant glob of leftover pie goo that we had nothing to do with. Tim and I both tasted it. It was pretty good. So, I told him I'd pay him a dollar to finish off the goo. And here's what resulted -- this inspirational video.

petie meeting day, woo. [12 Nov 2005|07:56pm]
[ mood | <- ecstatic. ]

I got to meet Petie for the first time today. Needless to say, he's the best dog ever. I can tell already. The breeder, who is also incredibly sweet, was telling me about people responding to her ad for the puppy. Once she e-mailed them the pictures, a woman in Maryland offered her $1,000 for the puppy. Wow. So, I'm getting a good one (and not for nearly that amount). I made sure to thank her for keeping my price below half of that and still planning on giving me the dog. Ok, enough talk. Here are the new pictures of Petie:

little addition [09 Nov 2005|12:41am]
Oh yeah, I never posted a picture of anybody at Cheesecake Factory for my going-away dinner. There were more people than this at our get-together, but here's the one picture we got -- Cheesecake Factory

Also:
mattjeast: that picture should have an arrow with the word "pimp" next to it pointing at me
Ann: LOL
Ann: you can photoshop that.
mattjeast: whoa
mattjeast: good idea
Ann: LOL
Ann: send me a link if you end up doing that
mattjeast: oh I'm in the process right now
Ann: lol
mattjeast: https://webspace.utexas.edu/casserly/pictures/cheesecake%20photoshoptory.jpg

And, as promised from the previous entry:
Before: Tim
After: Timmy Potter

And other miscellaneous camera screwing around (the only picture that doesn't make us look TOO fat)

I think that's it. Thanks for making my last night in town a really fun one, everybody. Feel free to call me sometime... or e-mail me... or chat with me on AIM... or uhhhh.... comment. Yeah.

[ mood | <- SO THIRSTY ]

So, I survived my trip home, and I took some pictures along the way:

This is a picture of Tim. I noticed he looked like Harry Potter with his glasses on, so I took a picture of him so I could add a wand and wizard hat... Photoshop coming soon.

Here's a picture of a cookie book at Barnes and Noble I thought Heather would enjoy.

This is a picture of me and Tim inside Barnes and Noble. Yeah.

Another picture of Tim looking like a f... stud.

Here's a picture of me re-enacting Westside Story. Jet for life.

This is Beth looking constipated on her dorm lounge couch.

Tim and Beth in Beth's living room in her dorm.

Picture of me and Tim. You can kind of see down my pants. Yeah. Still posting it... can't change history.

Me and Tim again. Less down-pants footage.

Tim and Beth reminding everyone to have a blessed day in the Lord as they leave the dorms.

New picture of Naomi and me back in Austin. Geez, she looks skinny, amirite?

Beth and Tim on the tower steps.

Same pic, less gangsta.

Also, here's some new puppy pictures. Enjoy:

The trip home was pretty boring. It was a lot of driving, but I got to see my brother, sister, and Naomi along the way. And we got to eat some really great Thai and Vietnamese food thanks to Madam Mam. Alright, it's time to watch Rome on HBO. Yeeessssss. Emo -- out.

WTF moment of the day [31 Oct 2005|08:11pm]
[ mood | <- no Subway resolution ]

So, I was on my way home from work today after making a stop at the bank, and I got a craving for Subway. This rarely happens, so I decided to indulge myself. I make my stop at the only Subway I know of within a 20 mile radius of my apartment, and this girl approaches me from the side of my car. As I'm getting out, she's like "Hey, do you have jumper cables?"

Let's stop right here for a second. I'm sure any guy who is reading this is asking themselves one simple question here: Is... she... hot? Answer: No. The story continues.

This question is, of course, leading to, "So, since you have jumper cables, can we use them on my car? And can we also connect the opposite end of them to yours?" Normally, I'm a nice guy. I'll stop and help anybody out if I'm not doing anything in particular. I'll be the first to admit, what I did next was pretty much a jerk-off move. I answered with "I do have [the jumper cables], but I'm in a hurry." Admittedly, I wasn't in too much of a hurry, but I did want to get my sandwich, get home, go work out, and get back in time to watch the Prison Break episodes back-to-back on Fox tonight (everyone knows I'm all about being on time -- clickable link). So, that was my response, and she took it well. Understandably so, I'm not Triple A, I'm not exactly obligated to stop my day and help out any person I see on the side of the road (or in a Subway parking lot, for that matter).

Anyways, I go into the Subway, pick up my foot-long turkey sub, and I head back to the car. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes. As I'm walking out, I look around curious to see if I'm going to run into the girl I said "no" to. I didn't see her, and I got into my car. As I'm getting in and rolling down my window, I see this big, well-dressed black dude coming towards my door while he's on his cell phone. Since he was on his phone, and I didn't know him, I figured he had no business with me, so I ignored him. He got closer and closer to my window until I finally looked up at him. At this point, he said, "Next time I see you, you won't just be gettin' a sandwich, you'll be gettin' an ass-whoopin', bitch."

Let's stop right here for a second. W-T-F. Ok, let's continue.

The guy starts walking away from the car. Most people would ignore this and write about it in their blogs. I, on the other hand, decided to question things. I yelled out of my window, "Excuse me? What? What did I do?" No response. Not even an expletive. I turn on my car, and I start to drive out of the parking lot. I see him to my right, on his phone still, and I yell out of my window on the driver's side trying to get his attention to my left saying, "What was that about? Did I deserve that?" Still -- no response. Then, as I'm just about to get out of my car to say something stupid like "I didn't deserve that, and you're an asshat," I see the girl run from inside another store in the lot motioning for me to just drive away. I then give her my official "What the hell?" look, and I drive on my way.

Seriously, what the hell was that about? For those of you wondering: No, I didn't base my decision on how hot the girl was. That didn't even cross my mind until I was in the Subway thinking to myself, "She wasn't hot enough for me to make me run late." I felt bad, at the time, that I didn't feel like helping, but I had another agenda. Now, I'm glad I didn't help. I know it was a mean thing to do, but I have the right to say "No thanks" to anyone who is asking for assistance.

My brother had the theory that the guy sent the girl over to get help from me, and when I didn't help, he overreacted when his brilliant plan didn't work. Even so, does that give anyone the right to threaten an "asswhoopin'"? Uh, no. If you're going to deceive me from the start by sending over your homely girlfriend... you know, just don't deceive me if you want help. I am really annoyed by this situation. I could have been on my way to work. I was still in my work clothes. I could have been on my way to a party. I had beer AND wine in the car (because they gave away a TON of stuff at work when the restaurant closed up today). There were numerous reasons to believe that I had other stuff on my agenda tonight that couldn't involve stopping for 20 or 30 minutes to jump somebody's car. Yet, I get harassed. Yeah, I'll miss that about Los Angeles.

I'm sort of all over the place in this story, so comment if you have any questions or any comments. TLDR version - I get asked for help. I say no. Guy threatens to beat me up. End.

In other news, today was my last day at work. The restaurant closed up, and I got away with a pretty good bounty -- clickable link. That's about 10 really good tender steaks on the far right in plastic wrap, about 5 marinated chicken breasts second from the right, and white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie dough there on the left. That pinot noir is amazing, the chardonnay is pretty good, and the sauvignon blanc is a little bit better than pretty good. The Guinness I decided to pick up for my roommate cause he actually appreciates good beer. I still can't get over the fact that it tastes like pee. Man, the last day of work was like the last day of school. A ton of good food was brought in for a pot luck meal, and a ton of the kitchen was emptied of all the supplies that would spoil. We were having linguine with scallops for lunch along with salmon and mixed vegetables. It made for a really cool lunch. We also got to play music that we actually liked while we packed up, and everyone said their good-byes and good lucks. All in all, it was a really good day (minus the weird Subway incident). Anyways, if any of my friends in Los Angeles are actually reading this, party at our apartment on Friday or Saturday to send me off on Sunday. We'll be having grilled steak... and chicken... and cookies.

TLDR - Not a lot happened, but I managed to write a whole bunch in this entry.

neat [27 Oct 2005|12:55am]
[ mood | <- yeah, chipper will do. ]

So, 3 things worth noting happened tonight.

1) I got new pictures of my chihuahua. I didn't mention this before, but his name is Petie (pronounced P-T). Here are the new pictures. I particularly like the in-shoe pic:

pic 11 pic 12 pic 13 pic 14 (in-shoe pic) pic 15

2) The Astros lost the World Series tonight. SIGH... which leads to story number 3.

3) I saw a couple of celebrities tonight. First, I saw Spike Lee. I went to see "Waiting..." with some friends from work. It was pretty God-awful, but I got to live vicariously through the cast members treating the customers like crap when they wanted to, so that made it worth-while. Spike Lee and his people also happened to be at the theater we watched our movie at. I went into the bathroom to... you know, and one of Spike's bodyguards was standing in between two rows of urinals. He was blocking the pathway, so I asked him if he could move. He obliged, and as I'm... you know... I hear a guy talking to my left, so I look over there a couple of urinals down, and there's Spike Lee taking a leak. Just like every other person, minus females (because they can't pee standing up... suckers). So, I saw Spike Lee. After the movie, me and a couple of friends went to Cabo Cantina to watch the latter portion of the Astros game. When we get there, my friend points over to the corner a couple of seats down from me and asks me if I know who the guy is down there. I look down, and the guy looks familiar. I say, "No, what's he from?" And she tells me, "That's Cuba Gooding Jr.!" I look over again, and behind the guy who looked familiar was clearly Cuba Gooding Jr. He was pretty cool. I talked to him and his friends for a good portion of the night, and they invited us out to the next bar they were going to after that. We also got to check out Busby's, which is a bar kind of nearby. Long story short, we got to hang out with Cuba Gooding Jr. and his groupies for a night. It was fun. And now, at 12:55 AM, I sit here alerting the internet while eating my seasonal pumpkin ice cream provided by Dreyer's.

Sweeeeeeeeet. Sucks that the Astros lost, but I made a good night out of things.

Dear Diary, [22 Oct 2005|07:36pm]
[ mood | <- apathetic... hahahahah. ]

Today seemed like a good day to start a livejournal. Why, you ask? I just put a down payment on my new puppy. Around Thanksgiving, I will have a 7 week old chihuahua that is white with black spots. Here are pictures of him at 2 weeks old:

pic 1 pic 2 pic 3 pic 4 pic 5 pic 6 pic 7 pic 8 pic 9 pic 10 pic 11

Not exactly the best, non-blurry pictures, but you can still make out the puppy.

It's the bottom of the 7th, and we've got a man on second with nobody out, AND we're down by 1. This could be a great game after all. By the way, anybody else feel like shooting Liz Phair about 3 notes into "God Bless America"? I'm not the most patriotic person, but, as an American, I felt it was my duty to take her out back and put her down. I know she's a "folk" singer with "that kind of voice," but that was awful. Nice try, Liz Phair. Ugh... terrible.

Ok, that's enough for a LJ entry. Have fun with the comments. Now I have to figure out how to link to Beth and Mike's.
